Low-Key: Am I In Rebellion?

ree

I heard a commentary recently that has stayed on my mind, and really, the thing that stays on your mind—percolating and serving to bring up other thoughts—is the Holy Spirit working to uncover issues you are not aware of, aware of but won't change, or aware of but think you have a justified reason to continue doing. A lot of it is hidden, wrapped up, and shrouded in seemingly "tolerated" behavior, mindsets, and supposed personality traits—but in reality, it's really REBELLION!

  • Procrastination/passivity

  • Stubbornness/quiet resistance/LOUD defiance

  • Laziness

  • Bitterness

  • Being cursory

  • Frustration and fear

Rebellion essentially means to go against or wage war against established authority, established protocols, and established order. Rebellion cannot be swept under the rug because we think we meant well or didn't have bad intentions. As HARD as it is to accept and comprehend, it's a TRUTH you and I must grasp and purposefully counter in all our decisions.

I'm sure those who gave a bad report after reconnaissance in the land of Canaan thought they were saving themselves and everyone else from what they thought was a losing battle. They were fearful, didn't want to endure the fight, had their own ideas about how to fulfill what God said, might have been okay with the status quo, or were just not onboard with the VISION of GOD, LEADER, TRIBE, FAMILY, CHURCH, COMPANY, or COUNTRY.

When we have no understanding or capacity for what God is doing or how He operates, we can easily find ourselves in REBELLION—kicking against the goad - like the Apostle Paul resisting instruction, direction, and guidance with defiance, fear, and stubborness,

REALITY - REBELLION is never obvious to the WELL-MEANING! It's okay to pause and cry.

To the well-meaning brother, sister, individual—it looks like you're being reasonable, cautious, independent, justified, or acting wisely, but when we are consistently at odds with God's direction, instruction, and purpose in OUR life—whether through resisting God-ordained authority, delay, defiance, or discouragement—we have to STOP and examine our thoughts, words, and actions. It's no longer about whether we mean well, but whether we truly know and are led by the HOLY SPIRIT and are submitted to His authority.

WHAT TO DO?

Stay low-key rebellious or recognize what is happening. CRY. REPENT. Cry some more. Then CHANGE. Ask the HOLY SPIRIT for HELP, for guidance and ability to see, hear, and wisdom to appropriately and obediently respond to His WILL.
